Know your termite

Two kinds of termites, two different treatments

Drywood termites

Where they live: Inside the wood itself — no soil contact needed.

Signs to look for:

  • ✓Small piles of sand-like pellets (frass)
  • ✓Tiny kick-out holes in wood
  • ✓Discarded wings near windows

Subterranean termites

Where they live: In the soil, traveling up into your home through mud tubes.

Signs to look for:

  • ✓Pencil-width mud tubes on foundations
  • ✓Layered, hollowed wood near the ground
  • ✓Spring swarms after rain

How it works

How termite service works

  1. 1

    Free inspection

A licensed inspector checks accessible areas of your home — attic, crawl space, garage, and exterior — for termites and the conditions that attract them.

  2. 2

    Clear findings

You get a written explanation of what we found, what kind of termites you have, and the treatment options with a firm quote.

  3. 3

    Targeted treatment

We treat the infestation with the method that fits — localized wood treatment for drywood termites, or soil treatment for subterranean termites.

FAQ

Termite questions

Is the termite inspection free?
Yes. Termite inspections for homeowners are free, and you get a written explanation of what we found and a firm quote before any work begins.
Do I have drywood or subterranean termites?
Drywood termites leave piles of small pellets and live inside the wood. Subterranean termites build mud tubes and come up from the soil. Our inspection will tell you which you have — the treatment is different for each.
Do I need to tent my house?
Not always. Many drywood infestations that are limited and accessible can be treated locally without tenting. If your home needs a whole-structure treatment, we'll explain why and walk you through your options.
Are you licensed for termite work?
Yes. Lion Gate is licensed by the California Structural Pest Control Board (Reg. PR 9942).
